Pre-Purchase F&I Consultation

A focused briefing before you enter the finance office. We walk you through every product you will be offered, what each one is worth, which have genuine value for your specific situation, and exactly how to respond when the F&I manager objects.

What It Is

The service in plain language.

The Pre-Purchase F&I Consultation is a targeted advisory engagement focused exclusively on the finance office portion of your car purchase. Before your finance office appointment, we brief you on the specific products you are likely to be offered based on the vehicle type, your financing structure, and the dealer's typical menu. You leave the conversation knowing exactly what to sign, what to decline, and what to say when the manager objects. Especially useful if you're leasing with subprime credit or unsure how your credit score affects lease eligibility.

Why It Matters

The problem it solves.

The finance office is where most buyers lose the money they saved negotiating the price. Dealers present 5–8 products in rapid succession, in an unfamiliar environment, after a long day of negotiating. Most buyers sign for products they don't need because they don't know what each one is worth or that they can decline without consequence. One consultation typically saves multiples of its cost.

The Process

Step by step.

01
Vehicle & Deal Intake

You provide the vehicle details, your financing structure (lender, term, approximate rate), and any information about the dealer's F&I menu if available. The more specific, the more tailored the briefing.

02
Personalized Briefing

We walk you through every product likely on the menu: GAP, extended service contract, tire & wheel, paint/fabric protection, key replacement, credit insurance, and any dealer-specific add-ons. For each, we give you a verdict and the reasoning behind it.

03
Response Preparation

We prepare you for the objections the F&I manager will raise when you decline products. These are scripted and predictable — we give you the appropriate response to each.

04
Post-Signing Confirmation

After you sign, send us your contract and we'll confirm there are no unauthorized additions relative to what you agreed to. This confirmation is included and is separate from the pre-signing advisory session.

Right Fit

When this is the one.

Book this consultation when the deal is essentially done — price agreed, delivery scheduled — and the finance office is the last room between you and the keys. It's the highest-leverage $500 for buyers financing or leasing through the dealer, where rate markup and product bundling live; for lease deals where the money factor and residual deserve independent verification; and for anyone who has been through an F&I presentation before and left with products they never intended to buy. The briefing is deal-specific, not generic: verdicts are built on your loan-to-value, your term, your vehicle, and your existing coverage. One session converts a scripted sales environment into a checklist you control.

When It Isn't

Consider a different path.

If the price itself still needs fighting, start with Price Negotiation Only or step up to the Full Purchase Concierge, which includes this briefing as part of the engagement. If you've already signed and suspect the finance office got the better of you, the F&I Audit is the corrective tool — it prices what you bought and recovers what's cancellable. Still deciding between paths? A free 15-minute fit call will identify the appropriate service, with no fee attached.

Whichever engagement fits, the ground rules never change: one flat fee, paid by you and disclosed up front — we take nothing from dealers, lenders, or product administrators, so there is no version of the deal where our incentives drift from yours. Every number we negotiate or verify is presented to you before anything is committed, every recommendation comes with the reasoning attached, and nothing gets signed, ordered, or paid until you say so. The engagement letter states scope and fee in plain language; if your situation changes mid-engagement, the refund terms in our Refund Policy apply exactly as written.

Questions

About this service.

How is this different from just reading about F&I products online?

Generic information is not deal-specific. Whether GAP coverage is worth it depends on your loan-to-value ratio, your insurance carrier's policies, and whether your lender already includes it. Whether a service contract makes sense depends on the vehicle, the mileage, and the price being charged. We give you a verdict for your specific situation, not a general answer.

When should I schedule this?

Ideally within 24–48 hours before your finance office appointment. We need enough time to prepare your briefing but close enough to your appointment that the information is current.

Can I do this after I've already signed?

If you've already signed, the appropriate service is our F&I Audit. It covers the same products but focuses on what's cancellable and how to recover refunds rather than how to prevent overpaying.
